We strive, at Garston Lodge Dental Practice, for every patient to enjoy an excellent standard of oral health for life. We recommend that all of our patients attend the practice on a regular basis for thorough examinations and hygiene visits. At each visit your clinician will advise on when would be best to return.
Your Dental Examination
At each visit, we carry out a detailed examination of your teeth, gums and soft tissue areas which includes screening for signs of mouth cancer. We will take x-rays , with your consent, where appropriate to allow us to see areas that cannot be picked up by visual inspection alone. These checks are vital to diagnose concerns at an early stage, meaning swifter treatment can be provided. It is far easier to treat issues at an early stage than if they are more advanced. We would usually recommend visiting us twice a year for these examinations.

Hygiene Treatment
Visit our hygienists for professional cleaning, oral hygiene and diet advice. Our dental hygienists are highly experienced in treating all ranges of gum problems from simple staining and cosmetic polishing to extensive courses of gum treatment for periodontal disease. Combining this with your routine dental examination will ensure you are having all round care.

Fillings/Inlays/Onlays
In many instances we would recommend tooth coloured fillings to our patients. These blend in very well with the rest of the tooth and in many cases are undetectable. They are also strong and resilient. Inlays and onlays are used when the area to be filled is too large for a filling and the tooth requires a more structural coverage. Inlays and onlays are usually made of porcelain and are made individually in a laboratory to restore the cavity.
|
Crowns
Crowns are usually made of porcelain and are colour matched to adjacent teeth, they look and feel like a natural tooth. Crowns are used when fillings, inlays and onlays are not appropriate, as the tooth has broken down too much. Crowns, if well cared for, can last an average of 10 years and are a reliable treatment to restore a tooth.
|
Bridges
Bridges are used to fill gaps where teeth are missing. They are usually made of porcelain and are attached to adjacent teeth. This is a good option for replacing missing teeth. Often if spaces are left, adjacent teeth can drift into incorrect positions and cause functional problems with chewing.

Teeth Straightening
We offer two types of teeth straightening – please see our separate treatment page
|
Dentures
We offer a full range of denture treatments from full dentures to partial dentures, from metal to plastic. We also offer flexible dentures, which are a great option. When you have a denture consultation with us, we will talk through all of your options and give you costings. The materials we use look very natural and the finished dentures will feel great.
|
Veneers
We offer two types of veneers – porcelain veneers and bonded veneers. Both types are a great option for helping with discoloured teeth, chips and slightly crooked teeth. Porcelain veneers ae a thin layer of porcelain that is placed over a prepared tooth. Bonded veneers are where one of our dental team builds up or covers the tooth with natural coloured material, no preparation is need on the treated tooth.
